In short: GlucoLog is designed as an on-device journal. The app does not operate an account or its own server for your health entries. You control any file you export and share.
At a glance
GlucoLog lets you record blood sugar readings, meals, activity and notes, and review them over time. Journal entries are saved in the app’s local storage on your iPhone. The app does not include an advertising SDK and does not transmit journal entries to a GlucoLog-operated server.
If you buy or restore a subscription, Apple and RevenueCat process purchase and subscription information needed to complete and validate that transaction. This information is separate from your health journal; GlucoLog does not send journal entries, readings, meals, notes, photos or recordings to RevenueCat.
This policy describes the app itself. Apple, RevenueCat and other apps you choose to use may process information under their own terms and privacy policies.
Information in the app
You may enter or create the following information in the app:
- Blood sugar values, units, dates, times, reading context and notes.
- Meal descriptions, approximate carbohydrate categories, activity entries and written notes.
- Voice recordings and, where supported, their transcripts.
- Your app settings, including reminder preferences and personal target ranges.
The app stores journal records and voice audio in its app-specific storage on the device. Meal photos are used while you review a meal and are not included in the saved meal summary. Meter photos are used for on-device text recognition; a suggested reading is shown for you to review and is not saved until you confirm it.
GlucoLog does not require you to create an account. The app does not send these journal records to a GlucoLog-operated cloud service.
Device permissions and processing
- Camera and photo library
- If you choose to scan a meter or add a meal photo, iOS may ask for camera or selected-photo access. Meter text recognition uses Apple’s Vision framework on the device. Meal pictures are not saved as part of your journal entry.
- Microphone
- If you record a voice note, iOS asks for microphone access. The audio recording is saved locally in the app until you delete it or remove the app’s data.
- Speech recognition
- When available, GlucoLog requests on-device speech recognition to transcribe a voice note. The app requires on-device recognition and does not fall back to a GlucoLog server. A recording can still be kept as audio when transcription is unavailable.
- Notifications
- If enabled, reminders are scheduled as local iOS notifications. You can manage them in the app and in iOS Settings.
iOS manages permission prompts and the system-level processing needed to provide these features. You can change app permissions in iOS Settings; turning off a permission may limit the related feature.
Retention and deletion
Your entries remain in the app’s local storage until you delete them, erase the app’s data, or remove the app. You can delete entries using the app’s available controls or use its erase-data option. Removing the app may not delete files you previously exported or copies held by services you chose to use.
Device-level backups are controlled by iOS and your Apple account settings. GlucoLog does not control whether iOS includes app data in a device backup or how Apple handles that backup.
Children’s privacy
GlucoLog is a general health journal and is not designed to collect information from children through an online account or service. If you believe a child’s information has been sent to the developer, please use the contact details below so the issue can be reviewed.
Changes and contact
